I had the obsession for the first 3 and a half years of sobriety. Worked all 12 steps my first year but didnt do a thorough 5th step. Redid my 4th and 5th step and the obsession was removed and I had a white light experience. I only share this with you because you never have to drink again Even if you want to. Do not pick up that first drink and you can't get drunk. Ask God for help and most of all work all your steps thoroughly. I learned the hard way and suffered but eventually God did remove the obsession. My sobriety date is 4-15-18
