I have a 4-day weekend coming up along with a birthday that I will once again spend alone. Before I get bored and start feeling sorry for myself, anybody wanna talk me out of reaching for a bottle? I know how this usually goes and I just wanna get a head start on this thing.

Looks like you’re a Buffalo Bills fan. You could start off by being grateful you picked Josh Allen over Tua! If you live in Buffalo, you could get out and enjoy the weather finally. Get some of those famous chicken wings and go to the park. I find getting outside and enjoying Mother Nature helps. Perhaps you can hit a few meetings. There’s nothing like having a sober friend. If your not into AA, maybe you can look into gifting yourself an alternative program of recovery. We all need to learn to fill that void with healthy alternatives. Happy birthday brother

Thank you. I live in upstate NY, but Buffalo. I live further down in another dumpy town (we've got several up here). There are good wings to be had around here, though.

I spent 3 years in Syracuse (ugly)and my kid went to school up in Ithaca (beautiful). The finger lakes are nice this time a year. You sound like you need to find some hobbies other than drinking. Not drinking is just the beginning one thing. Creating a new life takes time and effort. You’ll get there. Keep working at it

Yeah. Working around my house keeps me fairly busy, but it's not a whole lot of fun. I live in Binghamton. High in the running for shittiest town in the state, maybe even the whole country. I should leave.

Thanks. Yeah. I put together a couple of years of sobriety a few years back. Bought a house. Got a better job. Tons of meetings. Lots of positive life changes. Couldn't shake who I truly am, though. I'm a walking, talking bummer. Unless, of course, I'm lost in the sauce. But, I do realize that's no longer an option.
