I have a daughter on the way and have everything that she will need but i can't find any work and due to my past being in prison for 17 years is stopping me from getting in anywhere and it's starting to get to me
It’s ok, breathe deep. I was in the same boat. Your first job out isn’t the best job. You’ve gotta start low and work your way up, proving yourself as you “suit up and show up”. Just stay clean and sober, show up, and it will happen.
That's what I keep telling myself I've came to understand that I'm not in control anymore and I'm time everything will work out thanks for the words
I feel your pain. I spent my 20s locked up. Construction and logging, as a general rule, care less about your history and more about your ability to pass a UA and show up every day. Staying sober makes both MUCH easier to pull off. Best wishes. I believe you can do it.
Thanks I have been looking into construction mainly because that's all I have ever know but not having a license has been a issue so far
Keep the faith brother. Logging is all I've known, but the culture doesn't lend well to sobriety, nor age. I spent over a month stressing and applying for any and every job available... And praying till my knees hurt. Finally got a job in a warehouse. Not a great job, but it pays the bills. I kept praying and applying, interviewed for a job last week that I would love to have....
I figure if I do my best to open doors, God will shove me through the one I need to go through when I need to go through it. You got this! Don't give up!
