“I have a friend that has a problem” is a common intro for the curious alcoholic that is toeing the line of recovery. But in this case it’s true. I’m sober. Have been for quite a few days. But I do, I have a friend that is now ready to walk into AA but has a 32+ year drinking career. He fears the withdrawal. He doesn’t have insurance. A mutual friend is getting him insurance. I’m 800 miles away but how common is the “drastic” side of alcohol withdrawal? I’d be scared too if I were him. He’s in the SF Bay Area. Thank you
Google free detox. There are quite a few. Especially in California.
Thank you for this. I can’t physically drag him in but I pray he finds his way. Thank you for this nice link.
Alcohol withdrawal can be deadly. He needs to be in a medical facility to do it safely.
He’s aware of this. I haven’t been near this friend for years. He’s so close to joining us. Or not. The bitter end. God I want him to be on our path.
Send him all of the information you just received from here. Keep praying. I’ll send a prayer for him as well.
Thank you Kevin

Welcome
It’s a flavorful name…
I was a daily beer drinker for years. Blood pressure became elevated for days with insomnia and anxiety while on meds. I knew someone who died of alcohol withdrawal so I didn’t want to take a chance
