I have a narcissist fiancé and I think I have

I have a narcissist fiancé and I think I have to leave him. The fighting is only getting worse which is a huge trigger for me, he twists everything I say and uses it against me. I love him or who I thought he was. But after moving in with him I’m noticing lying, and just fighting constantly. I’ve tried everything, but the name calling when I shut down emotionally because I can’t take him coming after me over and over again, not stoping…. The reason I’ve held on so long is he got me a dog *Poppy 7 month old chihuahua * my baby. But after a month and a huge fight we had and me trying to leave for the night he told me “if you leave me she stays with me!!!” And I just don’t want him to hurt her, or anything. But he’s just so angry and hateful anymore because “I’m resisting “ him. Not doing what he wants. I don’t have my own place, I’m on Ssdi. I’m scared. I’m terrified of relapse. Could use some support. Thanks

Hi Christopher, I remember you saying you had a great sponsor in a previous post. You need to call him when you feel like this. You also need to come up with a game plan and protect your sobriety with everything you have. Things don’t get easier when you live with someone. Having to worry about your dog being safe is extreme. What about your safety?

Where were you living before you moved in with your fiancé?Can you go back there? See if you can stay with family. Make sure you are attending meetings.

No family anymore, except mom and she’s an addict/dealer. I was living with a friend whom I lost because she had warned me he was a narcissist but I didn’t listen. It’s a mess. I did reach back out to my sponsor. Waiting for him to call me back.

Don’t give up. You’re too young to feel hopeless. Sorry about your mom. Time to break the cycle.

Go to MEETINGS! You will meet people. You need to meet other people. Isolation is our worst enemy.

Get to a meeting. Ask for help. You don’t have to make any decisions until you are ready. But your sobriety has to come first. Go for a walk instead of fighting with him. Clear your mind. You have no control over this. Just keep on taking care of yourself. I understand what you are going through. It took me 2 years to finally leave him. The second best decision I made. Sobriety is my first. I here if you need to vent.
