I have a question for everyone.it seems to be a touchy topic

No I don't look at it that way
We all have our own path or journey that we are on
But recovery as well as anything else in our lives is a choice
That's why we live one day at a time
For today I'm choosing to not drink or use drugs
I'm only going to live in today
Not yesterday or tomorrow
Today I will choose to be sober
It really is as simple as that

I’ve been sober 16 months and through it so far I think people almost speak like relapse is expected. I don’t feel like I need to

Thank you for sharing your honesty. The power of prayer! Keep praying, faith without works is dead.
I can say there are people in the AA program who truly want to help. I went through two other Sponsor’s to get what I needed out of the program. And I’m very grateful as my current sponsor has shown my the ropes and introduced me to others who bring a solid program to the rooms.
Ultimately it’s up to the individual to take action towards working the steps. Finding a sponsor can be tough, but you can easily drop one and get another if you don’t feel it’s a good fit.

Thanks Brother! Glad to see you on here! Lots of people are in need of help/guidance! Love this App!

It’s been a sad part of my recovery.

For me if I relapse again I will loss everything I have gained. If I relapse again I will not come back and probably die very quickly so not an option so I stay connected to my recovery team and my AA fellowship daily. I try not to miss a day because I can feel the difference. I struggle with family issues and I am actually surprised that I stay as strong as I do. But my sobriety has to come first. There is a lot of drinking in my family so I just need to stay away. One day at a time is the only way I can do this. I can’t go beyond this 24 hours because it can get overwhelming for me, especially now with the nice weather and all my favorite places in full swing. I continue to beat myself up on a daily basis that I can’t be a normal social drinker but there is no going back now it is what it is.

Totally! No question. No one is perfect.

This is a wonderful way to put it. There is a Swedish symbol called a "malin", that is an arrow looping around on itself (can't post pictures in comments, but definitely Google it, it's cool!), that symbolizes that setbacks are a necessary part of moving forward.

I'm getting a tattoo of it once I reach one year sober.
