Today after my soccer game, my team wants to eat at a Korean bbq and KTV; I am pretty sure alcohol will be involved. I want to go and socialize, but I am soo afraid of slipping away from my goal.
Don’t go if you think you’re not ready. Is hanging out more important than your life? Make no mistake, that’s what your risking. Be strong. I’m proud of you.
Thank you! After the game I explained that I would be joining them but I wouldn’t be drinking and it went very smoothly. A really nice time
Good for you! I was really worried about this in the beginning as well. I made sure to tell all of my friends when I quit this time around and it’s amazing how respectful and open most people are to us not drinking. I even had one friend put some NA beer in his fridge for me without even asking when he had a group of us over.
We often overhype how people respond to us not drinking. The vast majority of people will be super supportive, so don’t be afraid to tell everyone about your decision. You’ve got this!
That's great u had fun everyone has to know their limits what works for some might not work for others, I don't have issues with things like that for the most part as long as their not crazy drunk, the last woman I dated drank wine but not a lot it didn't bother me at all, cause my problem isn't their problem,u can't just stop living...
Don’t ever apologize for prioritizing your sobriety journey. Sounds like you handled it perfectly

Prioritize yourself! Sobriety must always be number one on your list.
I have to prioritize my clean time. I cannot expect others to respect it if I am afraid of their response when I respect myself enough. I have to be important in my recovery. I also have to be clear that my recovery is important. I am not responsible for my disease, but I AM responsible for my recovery. If I am "spiritually fit" I can do anything.
Totally agree! Well said
Take a sober friend that way if you’re triggered you’re not alone .after my soccer games my buddies also like to go out and eat or drink but i been honest with them and told them I can’t drink . But only you know yourself
