I have been sober for just over one month. Today

I have been sober for just over one month. Today i feel restless and tearful. I cancelled with my best friend to go spend the day with. I feel like like crying because of the guilt i feel because i know he was really looking foreward to it. I feel like secluding and feel guilty about that too! Any advise? Is this normal?

Things can be emotional in the beginning talking to a friend, family, going for a walk , shopping, anything that keeps you out of your head ! For me it was Harley’s ! I build and ride a lot kept me out of my head if you want to talk dear I’m here and I’m proud of you. For your journey keep your head up and move !

@staci358388 ... Yes this is normal in sobriety. All the fears and emotions that we suppressed while drinking are starting to fester and come to the surface.

It's like taking gold out of the ground and making it pure. The metallurgist heats up the gold and converts it from solid to liquid then back to solid.
In that process all the impurities rise to the top and are removed. The gold cools down and is repeated. This process is repeated until there are no more impurities.
You are the gold.
Your emotions are the impurities.
The metallurgist is God.
You're being refined to be pure gold.
We all go through it.

Your story is your best asset to helping others, as you trudge the road of destiny or your recovery, keep going , the program of recovery maybe simple of it's not easy, you will go through some hard times emotionally spiritually and maybe even physically but you can do this , we all go through pains in recovery, don't isolate yourself , God Bless you...

Sometimes all we can summon is to just “Be” - your friend will understand - just be honest about struggling with emotions - don’t fight the emotions, let them run through you like clouds in the sky - they are temporary
