I have been sober since last June. I just took a hair follicle and it came back positive for meth. How is that possible? My probation officer is sending another sample to the lab. She says she believes im sober. I am just beside myself.

Detection window (meth specifically)
Standard test: ~90 days
Shorter hair sample: shorter window (e.g., 1 inch ≈ ~60 days)
Longer hair (rarely used): could go back further, but most labs standardize at 90 days
Perhaps your around people smoking it? from what I’ve seen that can affect your results as well.
Are you using Sudafed or Vicks Vapo Inhaler or Ephedrine products? Those can all cause a false positive
via immunoassay screening tests (the quick cheap cup tests)

Not that I know of.
It could very well be a false positive im sure you have nothing to worry about you should be fine!

Ugh, that feeling in your stomach right now… I can only imagine. You know your truth, and so does your PO, and that second test is going to confirm what you already know. False positives happen more than people realize, and it doesn’t erase a single day of the work you’ve been putting in since last June. Advocate for yourself and tell them you demand another.
