It’s amazing that you can acknowledge this, and talk about it! That’s a huge step in the right direction! Today you have a choice. You can choose to learn how to pause and slow down these spiraling thoughts. Are you involved or working any recovery program? Most of these programs teach us tools to quiet our racing thoughts so that we don’t feel the need to “escape”. Sometimes these tools work great, and other times they do just enough to let these tuff times pass. Take some deep breaths and keep telling yourself you are ok, and that everything is ok. Give yourself some self care. Have a treat (candy and a flavored seltzer water), listen to a nice guided meditation. You can do this!
