I have been to many AA meetings in different states. I always felt like they were cliché, some of them I went to quite a few times, and it was quite disappointing, no one approached me after the meetings to ever welcome me or ever offered to help me find a sponsor. And you could tell that they had been going there for yrs and every time repeating the same exact stories, I’m happy it was working for them but I guess I just wanted more interaction. Just could never understand how the 12 step worked.
90 meetings in 90 days same area dear , did you actually raise your hand and ask for a sponsor, let people know you, I’ve been to many meetings in many states, don’t know how long you have been sober?
It is not on the group to treat you as a visiting dignitary., You need to approach them. Ask for guidance, and help. Did you try a woman’s group? Did you ask anyone if they wanted to grab a coffee after the meeting? It is up to us to get what we need from meetings.
Look into Smart meetings in your area, maybe that's more to your liking! Good luck
Ahhhh, did you share in the meetings? Folk aren’t psychics. You need to put the footwork in to get the program to work. It’s up to you to reach out to others. Make yourself known and let others know you. Also, try other avenues. NA meetings? Smart meetings? Just don’t give up and look for reasons to use.
