I have depression that is not alcohol induced however the alcohol does make it worse. It helps my social anxiety in the moment but things just get worse. So why do I keep drinking? I want to be healthy. I’m one day sober finally again but it’s so hard. I hate this.

Welcome to Loosid, you'd be surprised how any of us can totally relate. The good news is we can relate. The better news is you can get better.

Aloha Sydney, I was diagnosed with Major Depression Disorder years ago and getting sober at the same time. I found relief from the chronic depression from a practice of meditation and yoga. I would be happy to provide some zoom links to online recovery meetings that focus on the practice. Feel free to message me anytime. I was once told in early recovery that depression can’t hit a moving target and you can’t fight depression with a depressant. Best wishes.

Mental illness and addiction go hand in hand.

I totally relate. The first time I got sober my anxiety completely disappeared- mostly because I learned how to let go of my constant thoughts about ME! I hope you feel better soon..
