I have had SEVERAL indications that it’s going to be a tough weekend, and that I’ll find myself face to face with countless triggers. I’ve decided I’m going to practice some opposite action/emotion. I’m going to listen to happy music, dance my a** up to the grocery store and back, do some more cleaning in my ridiculously small apartment, cook like crazy, and create happiness. If I feel like I’m isolating, or ruminating too much, I’m going to call my sponsor (again) and hit an extra meeting (or three). I am too grateful for my sobriety to allow myself to be triggered by negative people. Sending virtual hugs to all, please send some back, okay?

You got this! Sounds like you’ve got a good plan and plenty prepared. And ya know what?…F*ck them triggers. You do you and don’t look back!

Will do, kind sir! Thank you!

That’s the way to do it Cheechen!!

Why thank you, Jenn! Currently dying on my living room floor because I danced too hard for the last three hours, but I feel good emotionally!

Yes! Dance parties are the best!

You got it down! Great preparation.

Thank you! I’m going to get through this just fine.

I can get so worked up and afraid about situations. They typically turn out completely different and less stressful than what I imagined. Good to prepare. Heck, I even practice what I'm going to say to keep my boundaries.

That’s how it usually ends up for me, too, not nearly as bad as I thought. However, there are those who have consistently made the situation MUCH WORSE than I expected, and literally stomp all over my boundaries. Those people are the ones who are currently in the state, and lodging about 100 feet away from my apartment. Thus the preparation!

This is awesome and we should be friends

I love this, and I love your mindset, you got this!!! :black_heart::muscle:t3:

I could ALWAYS use more friends!

I think so, too. It was that initial “GASP!” That shook me.

Way to go! You got this!!! :blue_heart:

Love that you are staying positive :sparkles: :yellow_heart:

Thanks! I think so, too!

I figure I can sink and let my projection and negative feelings take over, or I can rise up and be the best and strongest version of myself. Obviously, I chose the latter!

Embrace the opportunities to stare adversity in the mouth occasionally!! The more you are able to walk through the chaos, the more desensitized you get towards those triggers being set to sensitive. Definitely don't to out inviting drama into your life, but I found it to be almost part of the lesson plan to confront some of these things. They're confidence builders and you're well on your way to making grwat strides!! Keep up the great work!
