I have to start yet again and I’m worried nothing will ever work.
Sobriety is a lot of trial an error and building upon everything you've learned. Don't give up. Put all your tools together and get fixing again.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. It happens. I don’t know if you are in AA/NA, but If you are being completely honest with yourself and are putting the step work in, it will work.
I’ve tried AA. I tried many different meetings and I never can get it to work. Sometimes the stories others have will scare me for a few weeks but I can’t find the motivation to stop by attending meetings. Trust me, I’m jealous of those who can get it to work.
But thank you. I don’t mean to sound negative, I’ve just done a lot and yet here I am yet again.
It’s not about how many times you get knocked down, it’s about how many you get up! You obviously care or you wouldn’t be concerned! If you don’t have sober supports, I suggest finding some! You can friend me and I am willing to talk things out with you!
There are other programs you can try. The big thing is don’t give up! Keep trying, exhaust every resource you can. Eventually it will stick.
I’ve done SMART as well. I’m going to have to do Naltrexone again. Which feels like such a failure. Every few years I have to pick myself up again. It’s just scary to me.
