I hit 90 days and came to the conclusion that i want to meet my wife, my sponsor said “are you fu*king stupid” i still dont understand why je said that

My sponsor suggested I take 1 year to put my recovery FIRST. I’m about to hit six months and just wanted to use the other day because I was feeling overwhelmed. I called my sponsor, went to a meeting, talked to my family about it and didn’t use. But I shared that with you to say that I’m glad I can focus on doing the next right thing for ME without the pressure of a relationship. Could you ask your sponsor to clarify why they made that comment so you aren’t wondering?

That’s kind of harsh without explaining - but as Jessica said, relationships take a back seat right now - some long term sobriety coms first and foremost - my sponsor told me to get a plant after 1 year and if that lived, get a pet after 2 and if I could handle that, perhaps a relationship at 3 - :laughing:clean up any messes in your life, job?, finances?, health?, other relationships (friends/family)?, legal?, etc. - be fully Ready, sober and healthy and a real relationship will find you
