I just feel so miserable cravings all day long, I have alcohol monitor bracelet on and if I drink I go to jail. Ugh not much support from family and they won’t allow me to see my two daughters in which I was the stay at home father for them everyday until last month. I had gone to a meeting this morning but was a majority zoom meeting and only 3 people present so I left and have been riding the bus more or less back from it ever since. Just feel so lonely in sobriety.

If you think you are craving you will.. if you think you are miserable you will be.. don’t under estimate the power of the mind.. change it up.. write 20 things you are grateful for.. go be active if only for a walk.. check out the library.. find a book.. just do the opposite of what you feel! Seriously

Hi James, early sobriety can definitely feel lonely. My suggestion is to lean into the few people available to you in-person, and definitely engage on here. Sobriety takes practice, and there are tools to pull us out of funks, like gratitude lists and meditation. Attend meetings like your life depends on it (for many of us it did) and talk to whoever IS there, maybe you will learn something, or get some support. You can do this!

Hi James , if you’re quiting because you have to, then if it’s gonna be miserable. But if you’re quiting because you want to, then you can be proud of all the time you haven’t had a drink. That’s huge and you can be really proud of yourself for that. You have to want to quit , it never works otherwise .
