I just got out of rehab and I am miserable

I just got out of rehab and I am miserable. Using was just a huge part of my life and now idk what to do. I really don’t even feel like I have the energy to go to meetings but I am going to make myself do something.

If you're anything like me the worst thing you can do in your situation is stay isolated in your own thoughts. Try and reach out to some people on recovery in your area maybe they can recommend some meetings or events that might interest you. Being "dry" is the worst kind of sobriety there is imo. Recovering from this condition was the only option for me. It takes some effort and work in the beginning but it's worth it! Good luck

Just think for a minute about something you want in life.

I stay in the community where my rehab was now I start working there Monday it's the only way I can stay sober right now it was really hard to make the decision to stay around and not go home but now the promises are coming true

I want to do the same. Peer support specialist. Congratulations on that! That is huge accomplishment

I understand where you are coming from. When I went to rehab I was forced to go. I thought that was my rock bottom. I hated every minute of it. I did everything I could to get out of inpatient and made people believe that I really did want to get better and blew through the outpatient part and I made people really believe I was fine, but once I was back home. I stayed 3 months sober and during that time I was the same as you. I wanted to drink and do stuff be with friends and not be the odd man out. I had really low energy and depressed and isolated from my family and my support and I relapsed. Then finally one night I got arrested for a DUI and crashed my car on top of that, and I had someone in my car also. Thank god she didn’t get hurt but her and my friend group dropped me because of that. I decided that I needed to change my life and now I’m back in school and working and finding a purpose for myself. I take it day by day and make goals for myself each day. You may haven’t hit a rock bottom but hopefully you don’t need that. So try to give yourself purpose in life and run with it. It’s hard but be true to yourself. Good luck on your journey.

Just remember, you are doing this for you. It’s your recovery.

When I came in 20 months ago I was told about zoom. Best thing ever. Just jump on a meeting no need to dress up or drive. 247 meetings around the world.

I agree with you 100 percent on everything. I'm miserable but I'm going to make myself do something. Nice :+1:

It’s ok to feel like that way right out the gate, it’s also ok to just relax and take some time to heal a bit more before rebuilding a new life. Time heals all wounds brother!
