I just need some advice I guess. I’m 4 months sober which is the longest I have been, but I feel hallow inside, and this is just happening. For the first 3 months I felt great good, and now I’m eh. The urge to say screw it and is stronger then ever. I go to AA when I can but I just feel so alone. What are some things y’all do to lift your spirits or whatever to just give yourself some peace of mind?
Hi Kyle. I went through something similar. My sponsor had me write gratitude lists, rework the steps 2-4. I started changing up my routine, and attended more meetings. When you hit the “eff it” stage, that is where you are the most at risk for relapse. Where are you in the step work? How often do you meet with your sponsor? What types of service are you doing? Sometimes something as simple as making your bed every morning first thing is enough to change your line of thinking. Don’t give up. Keep showing up and doing the work.
Try NA. Keep hitting as many meetings as you can and share. Get plugged in. Praying to something or someone greater than you who can have your back when down? Fellowshipping? Lots of tools out there to help you along. Use them.
Try to hang in Kyle. That alone feeling is itself a withdrawal symptom. Don’t let it fool you! Your success is truly impressive to a guy like me at one month. NA is helping me and the knowledge that drinking, like cocaine, only “makes things better” for about 90 minutes, then it’s back to the same old dead end.
I'm not going to give advice, but I'll tell you what I've done. For me, just going to meetings (NA) by themselves is not enough. I've had to get a sponsor, start working the 12 Steps. Then, later on, I started going to therapy. I also talk to AT LEAST one other recovering addict a day. Thank-you
All ways when things get bad .I go to more meetings.my first year .went to meetings everyday for a year .it let’s use get used to people and meetings.it is worth going to that meany meetings in your first years.aa
