I keep ending up in trouble. I want my life back. I don’t want things to be this way but I also don’t want to stop my life to fix my addiction. I’m lost for what to do but I honestly don’t want to be living at home. I want my own space to get through things my way. It’s all very stressful.
You have to make the changes and do the work. Best of luck on your journey
I have made changes and done the work. It’s not often as easy as you’re putting it though.
If you don't stop to fix your addiction, your addiction may stop your life
It's not easy.
Good morning Alexandria!!!! Well changing people places and things we’re always a good thing. Especially when we are in recovery at first. You say that you want to get your life back. If you don’t want to stop your life to fix your addiction. That sounds like to me that you don’t want to lose your addiction you want to keep it. You need to ask your self this question.
What is more important to me my addiction or my life?
And when you answer the question for yourself be truthful to yourself. Because if you choose the wrong thing you won’t have to worry about your life because your addiction will. I know it’s probably not what you want to hear but sometimes we need that Toughlove to get things across to us. I have a few years sober. I had to change my whole life in order to get what I get today. I’m damn proud that I did that because if I didn’t I wouldn’t be here today. You need to go to meetings and find a sponsor. And do 90 meetings in 90 days. That might sound like a lot did you find out a lot of things about yourself. And about your addiction. You will probably hear your story as well. But it’s up to you I’m here for you and I’m pretty sure everybody else is here for you as well. We’re all one big happy family here. And we’re here to help one another. At least I am anyway. So I hope you ask yourself that question and you answer yourself truthfully. And the best of luck to you In your recovery. If you don’t have faith in yourself I have faith for you. Just keep doing what you’re doing asking for help. It doesn’t matter what you need help with somebody or help you on here.
Sorry about the book
I've tried doing it my own way. I've tried having my own place....for me that wasn't enough. It didn't work. I need people, support, and friendships. Everyone has a different journey. I hope you find yours whether that is with or without support. I hear you!!! It's hard.
My way didn’t work.!!! I was 26 when l got help.34 years sober.
Alexandria. I relate and no disrespect, no one really provided concrete responses as to “ how “ they did so...
Alexandria. I read alot because I didn't like the AA meetings much. I went anyway but I like self help as it suited me more as I was a very functional alcoholic. However the main purpose is to to complete the action period. This takes focus and commitment and honesty with yourself and others. PERIOD. Start making a daily journal. Share it with someone for feedback. Keep a functional timeliness. Downsize your lifestyle, finances, wants and needs and build a new life that keeps you humble. This will make you grow and prosper with pride on your self. One more thing...volunteer somewhere that helps people that are in need worse than you!
