I keep having thoughts to use!! I have 3weeks and 3 days sober
Stay strong and remember your why. Why you’re getting sober. Journaling helps
Keep reading out get to meetings. Don’t give up. Life is good.
Smart move to share and tell someone sober what’s going on in your head! Keep doing that👍
My addiction & alcoholism wants me dead but will settle for my misery! Cunning, baffling & powerful.
My addiction is evil and wants me back!
Just remember the misery that comes when you use. Play it out out in your head until the bitter end. And stay connected to your sober peeps, always.
Some of my cravings have all but disappeared over the last 3-4 years, almost miraculously. Others will always remain, and there is no doubt in my mind of that. Such is life. There are plenty of things that have nothing to do with my addiction that in the moment seem pleasing but have long term consequence. Addiction is not unique in that aspect. That IS part of life. Staying plugged in, open, honest all make a big difference. Some might argue the difference between sobriety and relapse. It does work if you work it.
Hang in there. You can do this.
I am 2 plus years sober and still have cravings. Yesterday my brother in law had a glass of beer sitting on the counter while I was carving the turkey. I looked at it and the first thought was pick it up. It was a fleeting thought, and was gone as fast as I had thought it. I did t pick up of course, but the thoughts are still there. Give yourself time. Work your program. It gets easier if you do the program and with work.. you got this.
Unfortunately that doesn’t just go away because you remove the drugs and alcohol. Being rid of the obsession to drink and use takes work. That’s where the 12 steps come in. Go to a meeting, find a sponsor, and work the steps. It’s the only way I’ve ever been able to achieve any kind of long term sobriety. I don’t have cravings. I do have thoughts from time to time, but they are just thoughts. They no longer hold any power over my state of mind.
Keep reaching out,,
Keep moving onward, you got this!
Hope you’re doing well today
