I know I have a lot to be thankful for,

I know I have a lot to be thankful for, but I’m really struggling today. I’m an emotional mess (has nothing to do with my recovery) and don’t know what to do

I have a checklist I go through when I’m having a tough day like this.

  1. Hit my knees and try to pray it off.
  2. Get busy doing laundry or something to take my mind off it.
  3. Call my sponsor or someone in recovery and tell them about it.
  4. Go to a meeting.
  5. Help out another alcoholic or just go help someone out less fortunate to get out of self.

I’ve never gone through all these steps and still been an emotional wreck wanting to drink.

Sometimes even just taking a nap for bit will help. You wake up in a whole new mind set.

This too shall pass.
Stay the course.
Hope your day gets better.
Praying for you!

Call someone! Get out of your head. I agree with Okie, but if you complete that checklist and you still need help. Shoot me a message, I’m happy to hop on a call just to talk. We are all in this together :muscle:t3:

Before motivation comes, healing needs to occur. Do things that are good for you and your healing…and drink water.

Can you join a meeting? Call someone, reaching out is what helped me all the time. Stay strong.

Go to a meeting or call someone in recovery :pray:t3:

The constant struggle.

We have to let go of the toxic relationships.

If it's the casual relationship? Easy. Just cast them off. Easy-peasy.

With family? Much harder.

Are they supportive of your tackling sobriety or are they a hindrance?

It might seem selfish, but weren't we selfish in our disease? We have to be selfish in our sobriety.

Sometimes we have to say fck them.

Just remember you will have days like these, rollercoaster rides with low lows and high highs. Tomorrow is another day in a better plane

For me it comes in waves....ride the wave, it'll calm down for you. Easier said than done, I know.

Praying to give you strength today.

Hope you feel better!

I always get on my knees and say God if there is anything between me and your spirit please help me remove. The relief, influence, guidance always comes. I also remind myself that everything I’m feeling or dealing with is temporary and it too will pass :pray:t4:

It's just this simple when you feel like that! Trust God clean house and HELP OTHERS! it's worked for me for 4 years and 6 days

You helped me just by sharing that. I just woke up at midnight and though I’m having trouble sleeping I decided to start my day. And your self disclosure was the very first thing I read. I am proud of you for saying, “I dont know what to do.” What could be more honest? :love_you_gesture::pray::heart::sun_with_face::rose:

PS I’m thankful for you and this beautiful self disclosure.

I agree with the advice already given by everyone, so I’m gonna recommend something else as well that has also been helpful for me in moments where I has been feeling just as you are currently.

Now I’m not sure exactly where you’re located, but I’m pretty sure they’ll have something wherever you are.

Let it pass. Cry. Embrace what you're feeling. It will pass. Just let it run it's course and also talking to other people how you are feeling will help to relieve the burden of what you're carrying.

You've been given great advice. Just know you are not alone. I guarantee you can reach out, and if one person doesn't respond quick enough, move to the next. We are all in this together.

I agree with everyone who mentioned calling someone (a real person, not god. Nothing fails like prayer). Reach out to your people in AA or NA, whatever your flavor is. Do some sober hang outs, go to a meeting and start a conversation with a new person. Ask to be the coffee maker at a meeting you like. Keep your mind busy doing positive things.

Thank you everyone. I kept busy and hit up a meeting last night. Didn’t even have anything to do with my recovery, just personal issues that I don’t know how to address

Hello Erica, I hope you get feeling better soon. Have you spent much time lately remembering times that you've really enjoyed?
