I live with an active alcoholic, my husband, who has no desire to stop drinking. I am easily abstinent when away from him but drink as soon as I return . Am I seeking the impossible trying to stay sober in this environment ? He pushes alcohol on me. I will kindly decline an offer for a beer and he puts one in front of me . Help

I am in same situation. You have to be firm and stay sober only difference in my situation is my husband is ill now and I can’t leave him but I can say no

Make it known how important your sobriety is and how his actions are making it more difficult and it is highly disrespectful and manipulative. If he doesn't understand and change id suggest making your presence and access limited until he cleans his act up.

I couldn't personally be in the relationship with essentially my 15 year drinking buddy/husband.
I also cant be in a house that has it around so I wound up leaving. (Among other reasons)

It's like putting your oxygen mask on first when flying-yiu can't help someone else til you take care of yourself first. Maybe you can help him. Maybe you can't, but definitely won't until you're in recovery yourself
