I’m 438 days without a drink. I’m having issues

I’m 438 days without a drink. I’m having issues with my wife not being able to go 2-3 days without getting drunk. How do I handle this? I’m struggling and on the verge of breaking down.

You are in a spot there. Was in a similar position in the past. You can't decide for your wife when it's time for her to be sober. You can only do you. I had to walk away as it was sink with the ship or swim for me. I'm sure she knows the effects her drinking cause. You both have choices. You have chosen life and sobriety. Stick with your choice and faith. She will continue or not. Maybe she needs to know, that you love her, will support her in getting sober, but if that's not what she is wanting for her life or yours as a couple, you may need to be apart . I'll keep you both in my prayers. Stay sober and strong.

You are definitely in a tough spot. My ex kept drinking. Eventually we just weren’t on the same path. I had to make a decision for myself. That turned out to be ending it. But if I would have stayed with him it would have jeopardized my sobriety and my peace. It was tough but it was necessary. My sobriety comes before anything or anyone. It just is the way it has to be.

Thank you, Mary!

Thank you, Sally!

This was the reason I ended things with my ex-wife. Just realized once the alcohol, pot, and codependency was out of my life, there wasn’t much we had in common. 2nd best decision I’ve made behind getting sober.

All of these people are right.and some what the same for friends.

It’s not easy, but at some point you have to make the best decision for your LIFE!! You will know what to do and when it is time to do it.

Yea. I am trying to figure that out myself. I left my husband 5 years ago. I went back to college at 52 and graduated. I was sober 3 years. We started dating again a couple years ago. We have children and grandchildren. I love him very much. We don’t live together. I usually just hang out and drink with him. I don’t think he will stop. My kids drink too. I know I have to stop. My health is suffering. I want to live if I can. I am going to try to stay involved in stuff and work. Maybe yoga meditation and work all the time. Maybe just meet him during the day when he isn’t drinking and maybe ride bikes or something ? I need my family. I love them. I have to figure it out and find a way to be strong
