Yo Craig, how's it going now?

Relapse

A new day and I can do this

Maybe check in to treatment? Why do you want to stop?

I’ve thought about it just the timing is terrible. Operate my own business and after COVID it’s just starting to thrive again and there’s no way I can take time off right now. As for why stop… I’m over it.

What about it are you over?

Sophia, I am over the drinking life. There’s way more to it but I seem to get sucked back in to the same crowds, same outcome… drinking

For me, I had to find for myself what I really wanted in life. I mean when I weeded through the impulse for money, etc. The one thing I couldn’t live with out is family, wife, kids, friends. And then love for myself. That foundation of love in my life is what I draw upon when I having compulsive urges. You need the support from the people in your life on this journey, own it and people will respect your decision

I feel ya Craig, it is so hard to find other things to do when our society loves getting drunk. For me, it’s reminding myself that I’m responsible for my life and if I know I regret drinking every time I do it, why do I keep making that impulsive decision? What feels good short term and is easiest is not usually the best decision for the long term.

Hey Craig from experience I can tell you that there is no convenient time to turn your life around 180°. You have a choice. You have a desire. If you wait long enough the choice will go away and the desire will be replaced by desperation.

Don’t wait for jail. Don’t wait until you lose people you love. Every day I was drinking I rationalized one more tiny little thing that I swore I’d never do. I’ll never drink and drive. I’ll never drink at work. I’ll never lie to my kids. I’ll never manipulate my friends. I’ll never steal anything. I’ll never drink in the morning. The “I’ll nevers” never ended. Because this is progressive and it doesn’t stop until you recover or die.

Craig scary thought but the thought of the day was inspiring. Spiritual relief seems to be a target to road to recovery… at least I have a target now… thanks for your post
