I’m almost 15 months sober I pray read and work on the steps log daily I know this is a we program but for the life of me I have the hardest time finding time for anything but my daily meditation my job and every day living food shower bed etc i had so much energy before now I have none I feel I can’t move forward and grow how were supposed to because I’m so tired all the time
I’m happy to be sober I don’t want to use but I still fill shamed for not going to meetings i find myself isolating from anyone and anything i think I have depression that keeps me from truly moving forward I’m on top of life then I can’t get out of bed I will stay day after day in bed doing the very least I almost lost my job feeling sorry for myself just because I took to much time off so I could lay in bed and feel sad being all alone doesn’t help my kids have moved off I’m single and have only a few friends yet I don’t invest in a relationship take time for friends or involve myself with family I don’t want to be on another med it’s already costing me $200 a week by the time you fig blood work meds office visits etc all w/o Ins My walk with God has grown and I am proud of myself for choosing to be sober and sticking to praying logging reading etc but if I’m not truly enjoying life there’s something missing and if I feel to week to move how do I move forward so I can truly enjoy living sober

The unadulterated life can be a beautiful thing, but I think we all need external inspiration.

What's your favorite song?

I love music so I don’t have a favorite

That's even better. Do you sing or play an instrument?

Not around anyone if I’m being kind

Well self-deprecation aside, the idea is to do something enjoyable that connects you to beauty, gratitude and inspiration.

That could by climbing a mountain to see what's on the other side. It could be painting or photography of the natural world or someone you love.

It could be cooking something you're proud of, it could even be crying over a beautiful sunset.

I find that substance abuse walks hand-in-hand with suppression of emotion.

Sobriety becomes easier and rewarding when it's part of reconnecting with our unadulterated feelings and permitting ourselves to be and love our authentic selves.

Activities that inspire us and build up our confidence aren't necessarily turn key, but can really help. So, sing at the top of your lungs whenever you want and no matter who's around. (if you like)
