I’m almost 7 weeks sober. I live in a rural area and there’s not a lot of connection to community where I am and I don’t have transportation easily accessible to me. I joined this app to hopefully be able to connect a little easier and build a larger community!
Hey, hang in there. Just make it through today, then deal with tomorrow when it comes.
Thank you, I’ve been trying to adjust my thinking to getting through 24 hours. It’s definitely an adjustment but I think it helps.
Welcome, glad u decided to take this journey with us.
Welcome Shaylynn! I just came back to this app and am also hoping to connect with like minded people for support. 7 weeks is great progress, keep up the good work.
Zoom meetings are best for situations like that
Are there any that you’ve found that you like?
Hey there! I live in a rural area too and there is no support anywhere near by. Have you tried any online meetings? I haven’t yet but am looking for recommendations
Thank you so much!
I have tried zoom, 319 I think is what it’s called. I like it. But I’m not sure it’s my home group
Welcome
I don't know where you live at in Maine and I'm not going to ask but here is an app for finding AA meetings including ZOOM meetings that works with both platforms.
Hey, also living in a rural area. Actually just moved from a big city not too long ago it's definitely an adjustment, but I have been doing some zoom meetings. Actually kind of been slacking on them. Your not alone though.
Hello Shaylynn! I live in a pretty rural are myself and even though there are a few meetings in the area it’s always the same people with the same stories. I’ve never attended a bad meeting. They’re all important and supremely beneficial even if I know exactly what every person is going to say before they say it. I just try to keep in communication with people smarter than I am. Which is basically everyone I’ve ever met in the program. I try to be a sponge for life living information. I’ve learned a lot from the people here!!
Buy an instrument, yo-yo, telescope, metal detector or whatever to transfer your addiction and maybe lead you to new friends.
Get involved with what community service, community garden, maybe even politics for what you little town does have. Pick up sports or exercise or hiking.
Maybe upgrade computer, internet(fixed wireless can be faster and consistent over Dsl;try to avoid satellite.) or get into some VR like quest 2. Video games can be toxic but also maybe your thing that don’t hurt your life. I really love politics clubs or debate discords or hobby discords to find good conversations.
And just remember that this is the new you and the new you doesn’t want to drink.

That’s really awesome. I just made it past the first month. I don’t know if this is normal but I’ve been thinking about drinking more then I did the first 5 weeks. Trying to hang in there
Hang in there. Recovery is everywhere
Glad to meet ya. I'm 56 days. I joined for the same reason. It's always nice to have friends to talk with that know where you are coming from.
