I’m an addict, and also have severe Social Anxiety, so much so that I chose a career that would allow me to work long hours alone. I also drink to help relieve the anxiety. Because of this, II don’t attend AA. It’s not built for certain mental disorders relating to anxiety around people. The whole group structure is about “sharing”. It’s a catch 22.
I suffer from SA as well and do not like the whole group thing. I used to drink to help with my anxiety as well. Now I just suffer through it. We can make it.

Thanks
Have you considered trying a zoom meeting? It may give you the distance and anonymity you need.

Good point
JC,
I understand about AA. They don't address underlying conditions. AA doesn't connect past trauma to substance abuse, which is absurd.
Try Smart Recovery.

Thank you
I hear your problem. I would say find one meeting and force yourself to go every week. Don’t have to say anything. You might kill two birds with one stone.
Good suggestion
