I’m craving right now. I don’t have a sponsor yet

I’m craving right now. I don’t have a sponsor yet and can’t get to a meeting until later so I just wanted to get it off my chest

It’s a hard part of sobriety. They say strong cravings only last about 20 mins, if your able to try and distract yourself with a TV show, book, or better yet exercise. Exercising releases the same chemicals.

Try the AA intergroup webpage; it'll pull up zoom meetings happening now.

You got this - sending positive vibes. Hopefully this app helps too :handshake:

Hang in there. Lots of deep breaths. And Ty is spot on. Moving muscles helps change thoughts. Also agree with Bekky-when in doubt get on a zoom meeting. You can do this. We’re here for you.

Go for a walk or something similar that will get your heart rate up a little bit. It’ll help! Prayers your way.

Also, not to tell you what to do, but what works for me is having a favorites list in my phone, all of them are my sober support folks. If I would ever have a craving, feel tempted, etc., I just start calling folks until someone answers. Just talking to someone who is in your corner will help overcome the urge. You got this!

Good on you for writing it here. Try to get to a meeting today, I guarantee it will help

I spent more than 6 weeks in rehab, and recently discharged, which is why I don’t have one. Hoping I can get to some meetings this week, but I’m a single mom and my sons daycare is closed due to a positive Covid case. Any suggestions on how to go about finding one at meetings? I’ve been to meetings before but never committed to finding a sponsor and working the steps in the past so I’m at a loss when it comes to that process!

Cravings come and go! I just tell myself I’m not going to drink or use for this minute. Asking god for strength after I say the 3rd step prayer. Works for me every time.
