I’m gonna try getting sober again! Ugh! I feel so Defeated
These things take time. Try not to feel defeated. The important thing is you're getting up and attempting for improvement. Keep up the good work.
Never give up.
You're not defeated. The problem is, you keep on believing the
BIG LIE;
that this time everything will be okay.
But it never is, is it?
You have to learn to play the scene all the way through. You might feel good for a short time but sooner or later you're going to have to return to where you were the very moment that you picked up the drink and you'll have to deal with all the feelings that you were dealing with at that time.
This is one of the reasons that it's important to surround yourself (outside of this app) with people who have in fact recovered and know exactly what you're going through. Going it alone is a very bad idea.
Mila, please try to get to an AA meeting tonight.
And don't make excuses why you can't. You either want it or you don't.
It's cliche but take it 1 day at a time. Reaching out with your thoughts is a huge step.
Many of us can't do it alone so we immerse ourselves into sobriety support groups. I strongly suggest you find one that fits and cling to it. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
One day at a time and yes reaching out and yes you need a main support mentor or sponsor I can stand in that role I've got plenty of time under my bill
You want it enough to try and if you didn't want sobriety you would not care that you fell off track. This moment in time is just that you fell, now get back up. Some days we crawl, some days we're up and feeling strong but what matters is that we dont give up! Don't let negative emotions bring you down, fight through it. One day at a time but sometimes, one second, minute or hour, you got this because you want it💪🏽
I left my house March 1st to drink after 42 days sober. I was hit by a car walking back home from the bar and broke my spine. I know how hard it can be not to drink again, but take it from me, it’s a gamble in every way. I let my addiction take away my ability to move my body parts independently. Never thought I would get there, but I am. Don’t be down on yourself for relapsing, but take a stand for your sobriety before a result of your drinking alters your life forever. I’m praying for you. Live with a purpose greater than pleasure. I’m routing for you.
Don’t fret, it happens to the best of us. Just shake it off and be proud that you are not giving up. Things don’t always happen in a straight line. You got this!
I was a chronic relapser. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get past 4 months. It came to the point where I thought I would never get sober and tried to take my life. The experience was a wake-up call. This disease was going to kill me. I went to my 3rd rehab and left everything and everyone I loved and moved to Florida (from Colorado). There, I got into sober living and I haven’t had a drink in over 4 years. The people who never gave up on me were the people in the rooms, no matter how many times I relapsed, they welcomed me back with open arms. Find people that lift you up when you’re down and keep you humble when you’re in the clouds!
You're in the right place. Live and learn. Life Springs eternal.
First off, be proud of yourself for recognizing your disease and your desire to change.
Second, I’m going to give it to you straight. There is a difference between WANTING to change and WILLING to change. I wanted to change with every fiber of my being, but I was unwilling. I still wanted to hang out with my drinking buddies, I still wanted to hang out of bars. I wanted to get out of my toxic relationship. But I wasn’t WILLING to do it.
People will coddle you with going to meetings etc. You already know what needs to be done. But are you willing to do it? That job you are afraid of losing? You will lose it anyways if you’re not sober. You may die before you lose your job. Is your life worth that?
You know what I wish someone would have told me? Get off your a** and do it! Stop making excuses, this disease WILL kill you if you aren’t willing to change. So stop f***ing around and do it!
You're only defeated if you stop trying. The setback happened before... It's admirable and shows strength that you're coming back. Try to focus on the amazing thing you're attempting rather than a past you can't change and from which you probably learned something!... My unsolicited advice... You got this!
It's a long journey of ups and downs... it takes a lot of will power... but don't think of it as I am never going to use again...if that's hard... break it down... when I first started my sobriety journey there were moments I had to take it sec to sec.... find something you enjoy and when those intense cravings come try to keep busy for 10 to 15 min....I know it's hard but the intense part will go away..... also remember there is a difference between a lapse and a relapse...a lapse is ok you used... but you are getting back on the wagon....a relapse is where you don't care where the wagon is cause you have no interest in getting back on....for every accomplishment that you feel you've made reward yourself... even if it's just a walk...or pedicure...or getting something you enjoy
Defeated is where you want to be. Pain is a great motivator. We got this
Keep trying. If you don't- you won't reach those amazing milestones. You deserve sobriety.
The only time you are truly defeated is when you give up. You can di this just keep moving forward.
