I’m having really bad panic attacks that keep me awake all night. Anyone have any remedies to help? I need sleep so I can function. 40mg melatonin didn’t do anything and I can’t take anything that could make a false positive.
Have you tried any of the deep sleep prayer mediations or audio hypnosis for deep sleep on YouTube? I have played a few of them and they put me out quickly. I also have panic and anxiety attacks, so praying these sleep tools work for you
No I haven’t. I’ll try that tonight. I can’t keep staying up until 6am with full blown panic attacks for 12 hours. It’s exhausting
I've been through that before. It's awful but it ends. Hope you get some sleep.
40mg of melatonin is quite a bit. Be careful with that. I noticed starches help me sleep. Potato’s or white rice. They seem to make you tired. Warm milk as gross as it sounds has also helped me sleep. It’s best to avoid food before sleep but I noticed these foods do help. It seems like you may be thinking too much before bed though or stressing out. So try to clear your head and think about absolutely nothing. Ben has a good idea with meditation videos/audio. I have insomnia pretty bad but I’ve made improvements. The biggest thing for me was to turn my phone face down and get off of it at-least and hour before bed. The blue light will make your body and mind wake up as if it’s an artificial sun rise. So try to ditch the phone an hour or 2 before bed going forward. I hope you can catch some zzzs.
Thank you! And yes cps took my kids last week so my mind is just freaking out once I stop busing myself
I’m used to kids all over my bed and I think that’s a huge part of why it’s so hard to sleep
I think that’s very rational reaction to your situation. It’s a stressful situation and I’m really sorry that happened. However, there is nothing you can do in this very moment for your kids. They are safe and they will be fine. Don’t beat yourself up over it because it does you no good. Take this time away from your kids to relax and take care of yourself. For the moment just let go. Everything will sort itself out over time. There’s no shame or guilt in letting everything go for right now so you can give your mind and body and break. You need that.
I know I’m in the right place when I here peoples stories that resemble mine. However We still shudder a bit. I grind my teeth when people say there’s nothing we can do about situations that we are in.
The fact is there is a solution an it’s on pages 24 an 25.
We commit our will and lives to a higher power that loves us wants good things for us and will take care of us and we continue a journey that entails self searching leveling of pride and helpfulness to others and discover how we can be useful in whatever the family looks like afterwards.
Without the fellowship/family and being willing to do the things there’s no way I could’ve made it a year without being able to see here or have any contact with my children.
Going to sleep at night coming home waking up if We don’t focus on a program of recovery and spiritual maintenance every day is fubar .
It’s not easy but it’s worth it.
We can do it.
We will make it together and it’ll be OK
Another statement I used to Grind my teeth at, and my blood would boil.
Keep suiting up and showing up give it a chance to work.
If the mediation above doesn’t help I’ll try a middle of the night zoom meeting
Whatever it takes to overcome the loneliness and incomprehensible demoralization.
I wasn’t saying there’s nothing for her to do in her situation indefinitely. I was saying there’s nothing she can do right at this very moment besides let go and get some sleep. It’s much easier to make rational decisions with adequate sleep then worry in bed all night long. I don’t see what benefit that would offer.“grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change?” I take it that has the same affect? I don’t think my comment was worthy of grinding teeth. To each their own I suppose.
I'm so sorry Angie. Having anxiety in this situation is totally normal. I pray all the legal stuff is behind you soon.
Thanks love I appreciate it
Of course! Hang in there. This will pass and your kids will be back in your life soon. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Sobriety is your strongest strategy in dealing with your situation.
You have to use the melatonin 30 mins before you want to go to sleep. Close your eyes and it kind of helps that way. I also do a small work out an hr before I go to sleep. I take the melatonin and make a cup of chamomile tea right before I shower. After I shower i drink the tea and i take my phone and put a meditation sound playlist on then put my phone to the side and close my eyes. And this is coming from someone who took clonopin for 11 years for anxiety and bad panic attacks. I had the doctor at the rehab I went to take me off of it slowly. The first 3 months being sober was rough. Bad panic attacks every single night. But now 8 months in I don’t take anything anymore. It took some time but after those 3 terrible months I’m good now
I take hydroxyzine for panic attacks. It’s a mild antihistamine that has no psychotropic effects.
Hope you’re alright and were able to sleep. I still have trouble sleeping, ten months sober
