I’m having very intense cravings for a few days. I want to know if anyone here knows of cooping tools to help me with my urges cause I’m afraid of relapsing
If it's an emergency there are pills or shots that are supposed to either be completely anti-alcohol or they're supposed to take away your cravings. According to aa, resentment is supposed to be the number one offender for an addict. And if you're having trouble because you are resenting somebody or a situation, then AA meetings are going on in the city everywhere at almost every hour. And they are very kind and understanding. Their shares are comforting and they would also help to relieve the cravings. I know it might be hard to walk in the door because of worries or that you might not be accepted or something but if you don't want them to talk to you or look at you, then they won't. And all you have to do is just sit there like everybody else and introduce yourself. Whether it be a fake name or a real name? But whatever it is, you can go there and be comfortable knowing that there are other people in your struggles that were able to defeat that. And there are newcomers that go to the meetings every day from all cities. They may be visiting a city because of work or something and they need a meeting so they'll just step in there. And it's not that long it's only an hour. And in the beginning and the end part is the readings from the book and you don't really have to say anything except just to read. And you can say pass if you want. You can tell what's going on in your day and be honest with them because everybody else is being honest also. That might help with the cravings and the worries that you might relapse
There are a few things I do.
- Candy and fruit- sweets seem to curve my yearn for the sugar in the alcohol.
- Powerade- it helps me to not be dehydrated, which is proven to be an additive for my craving to drink.
- Movie- I have transferred my binge, to binge watching.
- Intimacy- This has been a great help for me to redirect my urges to drink. Passionate relationship releases certain endorphins and helps me steer clear of bars and clubs.
- Writing music and poetry- I associate my growing desire to drink with an inability to release that desire. So when I write about my cravings, it helps me to get it out of my system. I’m forced to write about the consequences of it. And this brings me back to reality.
