It will pass for sure! I am happy you’re here
Welcome back. Honestly for me right now I am avoiding extremely triggering people and places. There is alcoholism in my family and I know for me to be around alcohol right now would not be good. I know I would and could pick up in a heartbeat. Get to meetings. Reach out. Stay away from what you can for now in early sobriety if you really want it. Good luck.
Oh my dear. Do your best not to waste time beating yourself up. Guilt says “I made a mistake,” while shame says “I AM my mistakes.” It’s ok to reflect on things you wish you could have done better. A little guilt is healthy, but shame? Shame is a useless emotion and a weapon of the devil himself if he exists meant to be used on ourselves. Shame almost buried me. Please do not let it take you down.
I got through Memorial Day with the advice I got here. Always have an escape plan. I did and it worked for me. Don’t beat yourself up, try to learn from it. Next time consider if your ready, do you have someone that will support you, have a way to get out if needed.
Btw, I have completely changed my 4th of July plans just to keep me out of that situation because after asking myself if I was ready, my answer was no.
Awww thank you! Alcohol runs in my family too! It killed my father and you would think I would get it right... I am avoiding a lot of things and making some changes. Everyone I knows is a big drinker! I need new friends! You guys are the best!
That’s what I am working on. New sober friends. Good luck. Stay strong

My brother passed at 33 the color of a lemon. I can’t believe this hit me. But just keep on fighting.
Wow, what you wrote about guilt and shame is something I have lived with for a long time and you really put it into perspective for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Of course. I’m so glad it was helpful.
Im sorry to hear about your journey and the path that your on right now. But it is just that, a path. The beauty of it is you can always change it and take a different one. I have also lost what I felt was my dream job but my path led me to create my own business and face new challenges that help keep me focused and sober. I hope you find the path you are meant to be on soon. Take care.
Stick with it!
Don’t beat yourself up. What is done, is done. Start back and try to determine what made you relapse. Use the “lessons learned “ and get right back at it. You will get no judgment here. Remember all the good stuff about being sober. One that I dwell on is waking up in the morning and remembering everything that happened yesterday. You got this.
Danielle, I'm sorry what your going and been thru. YOUR not alone I'm sure many of us have gone thru the same thing.Dont let Shame get a hold of you.Today is a new day , dust yourself off and start climbing, don't look back..We're here for you..
It runs in my family as well. It’s currently killing my mother. I understand completely. I’m only on like day 10. But here if you need to talk
I need new friends too. I’m here if you want a pal in Miami . Do not beat yourself up. You made a mistake now find solutions.
