I’m new here and looking for some general support today. I’ve been sober for 2 months and I’m struggling lately. Any words of wisdom or advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi Aranda and welcome! When I’m feeling wobbly I reach out to my sober community. I throw myself into being even more supportive for other people, and I get really dug into my routine. The routine keeps everything even, and the helping others and reaching out distracts me and helps me work through whatever I’m working through. Congratulations on two months! Keep it going and reach out when you need help! There are a lot of people on here with wisdom to share.
Thank you for the advice! Being that I’m still so new to this, I’ve been doing a lot of it on my own. Without support or meetings. I have a basic routine I follow but I’m always looking for new ways to improve or eliminate the wobbly feelings as quickly as they come.
Hi Aranda! Glad you found us! Sorry to hear you are struggling today. You do have 2 months of sobriety, so let’s focus on all the positive changes you experienced since your last drink. I bet you don’t miss those hangovers! How about saying nasty things to the people that you love…I’m sure you don’t miss that! You should be able to make a nice gratitude list, and instead of thinking about what you miss about drinking (the escape), think about what you don’t miss. As Jenn wisely replied above, now is the time to reach out (you are doing that right here), help others, and get back to doing the things you were doing when you first got sober. Personally, I’m a big fan of AA. I can’t recommend going to meetings enough. If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s ok too. I just want to see you feeling better so that you can continue in your recovery journey

Welcome. Keep coming back. Don’t pick up. Find meetings. Congrats on those two months.
I totally understand that. I designed my own program when I first got sober, and it has worked for me the past three years. I really enjoy The Luckiest Club if you are looking for some kind of support meeting. They honor all paths of sobriety and the meetings always have a theme or a speaker. They always make my day better. I also listen to a lot of sobriety podcasts: Tell Me Something True, Seltzer Squad, Rehab Confidential, Recovery Rocks are a few of my favorites. And I love quit lit, always reading something I need to hear. Some of my favorites are Quit Like A Woman, We Are The Luckiest, and Girl Walks Out of a Bar.
Thanks you guys so much for the warm welcome! And Jenn, I’ll have to check on those podcasts! I work in an office and having a good podcast to listen to while I work helps to pass the time! I have been searching for some good ones recently too!
I’m 3.5 months sober and also struggle when I’m not at work. I don’t want to drink it’s just the boredom and loneliness that can be tough to get past. Using food to replace which makes me feel bad about myself when I should be so proud to be strong enough to do what I’m doing.
The first time I tried to get sober, I replaced alcohol with strawberry milkshakes. It worked for a while but you’re right, it doesn’t make you feel good about yourself. This time around, I decided to do keto for my first month. The detox was bad but I think I feel better? Lol it’s hard to tell. Keto flu and all.
Thank you!
I’m doing my best (:
Love that. I’ll get there.
Meetings and journaling help me. You are loved!
So words of wisdom that I told myself at 2 months and now going on 22 months that I religiously say everyday day to my self is one day at a time. It can be so overwhelming and heavy thinking about what if I relapse? The what ifs ate me alive for a long time but This time around I said to myself this is no competition, and that this isn't a game anymore this is my life and i'm going do everything in my power to take it back one day at a time and ever since then I've done pretty good, still struggle on days but when things really suck and I feel like giving up everything I worked for I say not today because only this moment sucks and tomorrow will be better and even if its not i'll take tomorrow and the next day and the day after that to figure how to do this and i'm still learning too! I have never had this long and its such a journey and its hard but omg is it so much better than the chaos of using. Don't give up reach out , go to meetings I still don't even talk because im not fully comfortable yet but I still make the effort to go, I found peace in nature and i was a legit vampire before, put your mental health first its so important. You got this I send you love and acceptance and support!
All of this is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing it with me. If all makes so much sense and I feel so welcome here. The support I feel from this app and the first time I ever post here is unbelievable🖤
