There is a pamphlet and probably something online about how to choose a sponsor. As a woman I was told to go to various meetings and listen to the other women in your case a man and see who has what you want as far as a program goes. Someone that does the steps. Someone that can take you through the steps. Someone that goes to meetings somebody that does service and practices the principles of the program in all their affairs. My first sponsor was much younger than me 26 at the time I was 39. But she spoke the program and used the big book and the literature to carry the message. She moved away. I chose somebody else who continued to be my sponsor for 29 years until she passed away. I wasn’t looking for a friend, but she certainly became one. All the best in your recovery.

Hey Blake I found my sponsor by going to meetings and listening to what people were saying I finally herd a message coming from the speaker of the meeting and I hung on to that message at the end of the meeting I ask him if he would like to be my sponsor I was filled with joy and gratitude when he told me yes but also you wanna find someone who has a lot of clean time to be your sponsor hopefully everything works out for you and you find the right person god bless you

Be very selective about your sponsor Blake. He should definitely be someone that you would like to emulate. I've only been on this journey 103 days and have learned not everyone willing to be a sponsor is a good mentor. God bless you on your journey brother :pray:t4:

I went to 2 meetings today. One in the morning and the other in the evening. In the evening meeting I asked an older gentleman if he would be my sponsor. He agreed and we exchanged numbers. I don’t know how much sober time he has but he seemed very wise and experienced.
