You can do it. The alternative is the potential to destroy your life or someone else's. You got this.

Thank you Taylor, well said!

I lost my most family they won’t speak to me anymore. I think meetings are crucial for support. You are not alone!

I agree. A month ago I would have never considered meetings. Now I go everyday and it is helping me stay the course.

I've learned that being an advocate for yourself is better than depending on others to advocate for u

Welcome! This is the first step to a new you! The thing I can advise is do not try and fix everything in one shot. It took a while to mess things up it’s going to take a while to fix them. Don’t be hard on yourself either. We are all just human. Reach out and ask for help. Congratulations on day one!

Thanks Tim! Already feeling more empowered

Welcome to a great support group. You are in the right place! And congratulations on taking the first step! Agree, with all advise. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Each step you take is a success. Give yourself credit. If you stay sober anything and all is possible. You can do this! Reach out any time. Always some one here to listen!

Thanks Cathy. One day at a time. Almost 24 hours sober now

The first few days are the very worst! It does get better……MUCH. Hang in there and take it one minute at a time if you need. Rooting for you! You will do this!

Go to a few different meetings. Dont rule any 1 group out based on 1 meeting either.

Different people will be regulars on different days/times. You'll find somewhere and some people you are comfortable with soon, and you'll feel at home.

Welcome Lis! I’m glad you’re here. You’re not alone anymore. Have you tried any of the recovery programs out there? I’m a big fan of Alcoholics Anonymous. I also like life ring, recovery dharma, refuge recovery, and there is one other I’m forgetting… anyway I’m here if you have any questions or concerns about alcoholism. I don’t know everything but I can share my experiences with you. One day at a time. Have a blessed sober night.

As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. The amount of work you have left to do is quite hefty if you take it all at once. One step at a time, though and it is quite manageable. Welcome aboard.

I am moving to GA soon so I will check all these out. Refuge recovery seems interesting! I heard of it before

That’s wonderful! I’ll send a prayer for your safe move!
Refuge is a good program, I like the meditation part at each meeting. Recovery dharma is a 4th step program- focuses on the four noble truths. I did the first one in early recovery. Was a great experience.
