Not sure if you've heard this advice in the rooms or maybe by other AA or NA members but the advice is simply this. Get a house plant :tulip:If it's still healthy and alive after a year get a fish :tropical_fish: If it's alive and healthy after a year get a cat :smiley_cat: or a dog :dog2: If it's alive, happy and healthy after a year then, maybe it's time to dive into a relationship...... Maybe. Obviously everyone is different. If you're not sure start with that plant. If you are sure I hope this post gave you a nice laugh :joy:

I used to roll my eyes when people told me not to date in my first year of sobriety but as I gained more time, I started to see the wisdom in it. Getting actively involved in AA and working through the Steps has changed me along with what I want out of life and relationships. I’m not sure how much time you have, but in my humble opinion, there’s definitely something to the one-year rule. Either way, best of luck with dating!

Exactly We certainly seem to mature in our sobriety and everyone's experiences are different. After 7 years of sobriety I'm still not sure I know where to begin with dating :pensive:

I now have plants, cats and a dog. All happy and healthy. Not dating but I have a home full of fur babies and a nice plant :crazy_face:
