I’m on day 10 of being sober, which is the most I’ve went without a drink since the start of the pandemic! I’m happy about it, and I weighed myself for the 1st time since quitting, and my weight barely went down
I was expecting a significative loss in thr first few days, but I’m pretty down this morning that it hasn’t started. How long after quitting drinking did you start losing weight?
I wouldn’t expect a significant weight loss in the first few days. Give it time and try not to let it get you down. You are Sober! That’s certainly something to celebrate🎉 I know when I quit drinking I craved sugar, candy, chocolate, whatever bc my body wasn’t used to not getting the sugar from the alcohol. Your body is still adjusting to the change from the absence of alcohol so give it time to figure that out and the rest will fall into place.
When someone stops drinking they actually can gain weight because they substitute the alcohol with sugary treats so be mindful. Track what you eat, also 10 days whatever you lose if any will just be water weight. Watch what you eat and exercise

Thanks Heather
Thanks Luis!
Hey Jo Everyone with any amount of time including significant time does it the same way, one day at a time. I used to party in the 80s; I have some years of sobriety and it always surprises me. I couldn’t have done it alone. I do it with other AA, sober people, and with my higher power of God, I love being sober I don’t take it for granted one day. Good luck on your journey. You’re in a good place to find other support and friends. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Douglas
