I’m one month sober and looking for people to help

I’m one month sober and looking for people to help continue to guide me in my journey. I constantly have questions and only have one sober friend.

I have met many friends through the years in AA. I started with the 12 steps and going to meetings. I still go to meetings with some years of sobriety. One month sober is a big deal. Glad for your journey. Keep up the good work.

Thank you. I don’t get to go to many meetings because of work. And I live in a small town with very limited AA groups.

Hi Lindsey, I am a little over 2 months sober. I constantly have questions too. I am free to chat if you want to.

Thank you. I’m just having a hard time asking for help. I hold it all in. I’m slowly getting better at it, but I still find it hard.

I get it. I hold it in too. I’m told Finding people that understand the disease is key. Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone that truly understands. My boyfriend is clean from drugs (the hard ones) but he still struggles with alcohol. I manage to stay away from drinking though.

I haven’t been able to hang around any of my friends because they all drink pretty regularly. My only sober friends live in another state. It gets lonely. I have also been reading AA books and I also struggle to find a higher power.

I’ve got 5 months sober Lindsey. If u got any questions just let me know. I’m doing IOP and therapy and it’s really helped me out.

Thank you. I am also in therapy but I may need to change since getting sober. Living in a small town is difficult finding the help you need. Thank you again for reaching out.

Hello! Congratulations on your sobriety! I also live in a small town, and have used the AA meeting guide app to find local meetings in surrounding towns. Do you have this app on your phone? You may be surprised re: just how many meetings there are, in person and virtually. There are also National and international zoom meetings. When I was in treatment in New Hampshire, we would sometimes zoom into meetings in other states too, just to get a meeting in. My suggestion would be to make meetings a priority if you want to meet people, with a focus on women’s meetings. You could also volunteer for a service position, as a greeter if it’s an in person meeting, and that would help you open up a bit and meet more people. It’s hard to ask for help and to put ourselves out there, but it’s even harder to lose our sobriety and pick back up because we didn’t move through our fear and go to any length to achieve sobriety. Best of luck!

Thank you all for the encouragement and advise. It means so much.

This is a great community and you’ll get a lot of support here. Loneliness is something that comes with going through this journey but it won’t be like that always. I have put together an email for some of my friends, just links to sources for self-help. Shoot me a message and I’ll email it to you… you may find it helpful.

Good morning
Same here. I actually live with an alcoholic and I am working on myself. He doesn’t like it that I have isolated myself from him. His choice I’ve asked him to work on his drinking as I have chosen to work on me. I don’t ask my family for help but I’m glad I joined this group it has helped me tremendously. God bless and have a good day.

Everything AA is a nice app and it gives you 24/7 access to zoom meetings. Still prefer in person but online is exactly the same just online lol
