I’m struggling so hard went on a bungee and just feel so powerless and my life is going no where. I’m struggling so hard people I need some inspiration to keep moving forward. I wanna give up. I just feel so isolated and alone everyday and I drink to kill those emotions.

You’re in a safe place here to talk about it. How many days or months do you have? When I first got sober I journaled about it a lot and that helped.

Thanks Sue I just can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. I’m about to be 30 and not doing anything with my life it seems and I’m freaking out

No doing anything??? You are sober!!!! Try and get some meetings and talk with people afterwards. Don’t be the last one there and the first one to leave! Get numbers and go to lunch afterwards or dinner afterwards! I had to do that my first months until I got to know people. It’s been the best thing I’ve ever done in my life

Andrew bro. It gets better. I'm almost 60 days clean from crazy unhuman amounts of whiskey a day for 8 years. Doesnt seem like it now, but it gets better when your sober. Things start "clicking". Your mind gets clear. I never believed ppl when they told me these things but man they were right. Feel free to message me

Thanks Danny for real. Im just in that haze mind set I’m ashamed and pretty depressed from this last go. Feel like ppl are passing me bye so thanks for saying that to me

Hi Andrew, what do you mean by people passing you by? Like careers, etc.? At 30 you are so very young and have much time to build a fulfilling life.

Idk how far into recovery you are but I ordered a first 90 days of sobriety journal from Amazon and it’s rly rly helped a lot.

I just reached 1 week, I know how it feels to be lonely and alone, I still feel that way at times. One thing that helps me is something my sponsor just taught me, to speak to my emotions, like “depression, I’m thankful for the things you’ve done for me. You pointed out things I needed to work on, but you’re working too hard and I need you to relax a little so I can see the happiness I’ve been ignoring due to you working overtime. Take the rest of the day off and we’ll try again tomorrow with less enthusiasm on depressing matters. Thanks.” And that there has already made a big impact on my whole view of my depression AND my anxiety. It’s worth a shot. And remind yourself every day that you are worth it.

Yes that’s it. I just feel like I’m running on ice. I drink because of feeling that way

That’s a great idea I’ll look into it

I love that man I’ll do that. I have been noticing how I go right to talking down on myself and it makes me feel worse more depressed and worthless. Self talk is super important I’m realizing in life and recovery. It’s a cheap way to deal with emotions. I feel most alcoholics / addicts are so hard on themselves with even the smallest things that happen to us or we deal with, as it happens we just beat ourselves into oblivion. I appreciate those words I think I’m in a confusing part of my life and it’s always to the worse case scenario. Like I don’t have many friends, or I’m still single about to be 30, or I was let go recently at 30 almost from my job so it’s like all these things are happening that the world tells us we’re failures if we don’t have these things at once.

Andrew, I highly recommend a book called Alcohol Explained. I have the audio version.
