I made it. Today is day two and I feel great. I will be tested today, as we have a huge benefit gala this evening. Wish me luck.
Yay!! It truly is ODAAT. As for tonight, have a plan. Know what you’re going to drink ahead of time. Whether it’s water, ginger ale with a splash of cranberry, or some other mocktail…be sure to know what you’re going to drink when someone asks you what you’re drinking. Another part of your plan can be to have an exit strategy. If you’re just not feeling it, be sure you can leave when you need to. Remember to take responsibility for your sobriety. Another thing I like to do is check in with my support. If you don’t have anyone, you can use us. You can update us every 30-60 minutes with a quick check in. If you have a friend on here, stay in touch with them. I also wear a few bracelets on my wrist that are symbolic of what’s important to me. I also have a screensaver on my phone that means something to me. I quick look at that pic is a nice reminder for me. You can do this!!! Have a plan
Thank you for the great tips!
I see your Strength !! Keep up the Great work !! Good luck ..
good luck!
... let's see day day 3
When I’m in those settings I try to remember that a drink won’t make anything better but it can sure make everything worse.
And I usually arrive early, be seen by whoever needs to see me, and then Irish goodbye
Great job!
Tomorrow is day 3 and the next day is day 4 that will double your time sober. Keep it up!!
You have two days. Congratulations. And use the tips that are passed out for free. Having said that, you're probably going to get some cravings sooner or later and alcohol is going to feed you a big lie that says just a few drinks will be okay.
It's important that we play the scene forward and think about what happens. You might feel some relief for a short period of time but sooner or later you will be right back where you started carrying around lots of guilt, realizing that you accomplished absolutely nothing.
So be prepared for the big lie to come your way. When this happens the most important thing you can do is call someone that has been sober for a long time.
And always remember that the circus is still in town!
Keep pushing. Recovery doesn't take luck, it takes effort, it takes reaching out to your supports, it takes work. You can do it!!
Congratulations and good luck. The toughest part is that first step!
Keep on going. Your on a journey that you will adore after a while. Love yourself well
Heck yeah? 2 is multiplied into huge numbers in no time, one day at a time. If you are painstaking about this process, you will be amazed before you are half way through. May you know the meaning of serenity.
Grab a warm beverage and stay with us for a while.
