I Miss Rehab

Not gonna lie, rehab was kinda fun. I enjoyed being able to talk openly to like-minded people without them looking at me like I was crazy. I was able to let my new meds kick in while in an environment where I had no temptations, and few triggers.

Now that the pink cloud has worn off, I'm still doing okay. I'm five months clean, and not really struggling with the not drinking or using part, but still trying to keep my head straight.

I've struggled with my mental health since I was a child, but never wanted prescribed meds. Now that I'm medicated, I don't struggle daily with my depression, but it does get to me some days, like today.

I think it's my job that's getting me down. I need a job that I enjoy, and is more fulfilling. Is that too much to ask? Why do we settle for jobs that beat us down?

I do group therapy twice a week, and individual therapy once a week, but I'm not getting much out of it lately. I think I may look at changing providers.

I enjoyed this app for awhile. I enjoyed helping others, but I've lost interest in it. Maybe I'm just feeling selfish? Poor me.

I just needed to vent.

TL;DR - I'm doing okay with not drinking, but I'm getting damned depressed.

When I was younger I was sent to a mental hospital and it was a BLAST LOL… so I can understand rehab being fun.

I personally think you should move on from your therapy if you’re not getting anything out of it. 3 days a week for therapy is A LOT and life is too short to be investing so much time and energy in something isn’t serving you. I would change providers and find another group of people I can connect with. Meet up app helped me find a group of sober women that I like. Try searching to peer group counseling there even if it’s online. I like it way better than actual therapy because it’s free and people are there because they WANT TO. One of the groups meetings I attend is lead by a social worker and it’s been very effective for me…. You can also try things like finding a hobby group.

I suffered from depression and anxiety all my life. I thought it would lessen after I gained solid sobriety. It didn’t. I found ACA and worked the steps. It has lessened to a very manageable level. We need to be around people that are like us and know what we feel, I suggest working AA,ACA like it was rehab and I feel you may find that feeling of belonging you had in rehab

I did a stint in a mental hospital at 12 years old, but I didn't enjoy it.

I'll look into peer counseling. Thanks for the tip.

Not a fan of AA, and I don't think ACA would apply, as neither of my folks are alcoholics.

Maybe a switch in your job would be a good thing, even though changes can always be tough. Also, try to find some hobbies, something you’re really interested in to keep your mind busy. For me, I love being outdoors and just enjoying nature. That’s my hp
