My bf and i had gotten tickets for this concert tonight. Artist that we both love and after my incident last week were Alcohol controlled me and it was the first time he experienced that. Lets just say that he almost broke up with me and i dont blame him. But now the fact that this concert tonight was honestly something i got the day off for. I got an outfit for it and we have been talking about it for months. It's taking everything of me to respect his decision of not wanting to go anymore. Trust me i know he is right and i know if i go i will end up in a complete mess. Even though i keep telling myself i will control my alcohol! I CANT, I cant be like everyone else and it fukin sucks. If i know this why am i thinking about it so much!!!?
I’m sorry. That sounds like it would be disappointing. In my opinion; it’s ok to be disappointed and at the same time put some hope into the situation…you’re recognizing your need for change and choosing healing.
My only advice is to give your bf a big hug and thank him for being so supportive and understanding. Let him know how hard this is, and you appreciate him forgoing the concert. Assuming he’s not being a d-bag about this, his attitude is pretty amazing. He sounds like a keeper
Sorry, actually I have advice pertaining to staying sober. You are right, sometimes this does fukin suck! If we sit around thinking about how we can’t enjoy life like everyone else, we will be miserable…and drink again. So, my advice is to get involved in one of the recovery programs that people talk about on here all the time. If you are like most of us, you will resist and hate it at first. However, many of us do eventually find them very rewarding, and learn how to live a happy life without drinking. Wouldn’t be nice to be able yo go to a concert and enjoy it without drinking??
