I need help and don't know how to ask for

I need help and don't know how to ask for it. Ive always pretended as if my life is ok because my bills are paid and I have a few bucks in the pocket. I was recently called out for it and it really hurt me to hear. I have a daughter who I love so much but recently I have put her on the back burner. We used to spend so much time together but now all we do is live separate lives. She hangs in her room while I sit in the living room on my phone getting high. I'm so embarrassed to even say this but it has to come out. I have been wanting to get away and do an inpatient program so I can get back on my feet. What's stopping me is I am afraid of losing her to her mother who's no better than me. If she finds out I'm an addict she will tell the courts and my child will go back to her or worse child services will take her. Does anyone have any suggestions and advise. I really could use some at this moment. Please help.

You just did. I was a “functional drunk”. If you think about it, by going to rehab, you will be providing a much more stable home, and it will be in the best interest of your health, safety and mind. Plus the courts do look at that. You are admitting you need help. That goes a long way man. First off you need to get yourself clean. I truly hope it works out man.

This something I need to speak with my attorney about. I have depression that causes me to self destruct and get into this mood where I don't care anymore. Which causes me to make bad decisions and become weak to temptation. I was on medication for awhile but stopped taking them because I was getting sober. I made an excuse and said I can do it on my own. Which was just a lie. I called up an outpatient program today that's near me. They said my employer who has a strict no drug policy and the courts will never find out. So I'm looking into that. But the problem is I need to find the time. I have no support family or anyone that can help me with my daughter. So that's something I'm trying to figure out at the moment. Thanks for taking the time out.

Yeah man. You may not have “support family” but in recovery we are all family. Definitely talk to the lawyer, as far as meds, I got stuck in that loop several times. Now that I am sober I know I can’t stop taking meds.

I hear you on the meds but I don't want to be dependent on anything.

Sometimes our body needs regulating because it doesn’t produce the right chemicals. Just like diabetes. Not your fault and meds need to be taken.

I was a super functional alcoholic/addict. I get it. I didn’t want to join a program but eventually found I need the fellowship. Find a meeting, don’t worry about everything else right now but get around some support. I’m 2.5 years sober after 30 years of use. I never went inpatient or worked any formal program. I got help and worked in myself.
