I need help. I have several personal, very stressful life events happening right now. All I want to do is have a drink to relieve some of my anxiety. My brain is screaming at me. I've never had to handle this much stress sober and I'm not dealing with well. Any advice?
Can you get on a zoom meeting or to one in person?
Meetings
Unfortunately can't go in person right now. I've been doing zoom meetings. It's helping a bit.
Do you have someone to talk to?
Scream it all at the top of your lungs. Journal the heck out of it then crumble it up or start a fire. Talk to someone. Don’t let it sit inside your head it’ll just eat at you as it’s been. Focus on the now. Is this a past or future stress? Or a now stress and something you don’t have control over? Stay busy if you can. Breathe. Everything will be alright.
Zoom as much as you can. Lay in bed and just listen if that’s all you feel up to doing.
Take stock of those events. Write down everything that $uck$ about them. Then cross off all the things that uou have zero control over. You'll find that there are a lot. Then focus on what's left over that you CAN change/control.
U ever when to rehab?
One day at a time. If that seems unreachable then break it down to one hour at a time or 10 minutes at a time.
Yes to all of this! The part about the consequences of that first drink especially resonate with me. Confusion and hangovers are just 2.
Talk about your feelings with sober people.
Your addiction wants you to think that your anxiety and stress is so much more than anyone else is going through. You need to recognize that people are going through all kinds of $hit, without picking up. You can get through it without picking up too. Tell your addiction to shut the fu(k up.

New here, how do you Zoom?
Pray, if you believe in that. Someone to talk to who listens.
Pray. Talk to sober people!
