hey, are you ok? do you go to meetings? I get a lot of my help through going to meetings. there’s always one going on on zoom and you can do that from your phone!

Thank you for replying to me. No I don’t go to meetings. I am too ashamed. This morning my husband sat in his chair and asked me if I was ever going to get help with my drinking. I am 65 and started drinking daily about 2 years. I still work full time but after work I come home and drink until totally drunk, pass out and start over the next day after work.

Do not feel shame! My awakening came after a 7 day bender that I don't remember and woke up covered in my own blood.. feel free to speak up. Nothing I can't relate to.

Hey Pam. We all need help, the real question is do you want help? If you go to an AA meeting raise your hand and ask for help. You will be amazed at all the people willing to help you. They want to help for nothing in return because helping you helps them.

No problem. And I went to my first AA meeting last week and have never felt so welcome somewhere. I definitely recommend it.

You have nothing to be ashamed of. You will be with a group of people who felt just like you at one time. If you have a God in your life ask Him to help you also.

It’s done the same for me. There is a certain comfort in knowing our experiences that made us feel alone are shared experiences from many people. No need to hide here and we have all been there.

Hey Pam, I am having a tough time today. I know though if I relapse it means Detox. Take it easy and be careful, home detox can be dangerous. I know of a caring place to have it done safely! It might be a great idea to treat the shame you are carrying, to hang out with others that are in a similar situation.
