I need some relief

I have a lot on my mind right now and I just wish my mind would quiet down. I need some relief from my addictive obsessive thinking. Distractions help. I’m hoping sleep will reset me. Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.

Read a good book. Reading distracts and exercises the mind.

I have found that writing what is in my head down on paper relieves my head of the constant crud spinning in my brain.
One moment at a time
I focus on the first step in AA . That helps relieve me of my insanity.
I live meditating.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate the support. I’ll try these things.

Ya my addict mind can be extremely powerful in the wrong way sometimes. Lots of in person AA meetings, service and step work are the best ways to alleviate the craziness. These are my medicine. No pills, people, or money will work to cure me.
I had to put my sober program first. Then everything else falls in the right place.
I’m here if you want to talk

Concentrate on your breathing. Try this grounding technique. Concentrate on 5 things you can see. 4 things you can touch. 3 things you can hear. 2 things you can smell. 1 thing you can taste. Or get a cold pack on your face, maybe splash some ice cold water on it, hold a piece of ice and if your really brave a cold plunge or shower.

I don’t think sleep is the answer…I do it and it turns into a drawn out action. Go take a nice walk in the sun, put headphones on and listen to prayer while you do something like clean, give yourself some extra self care- wash your face, exfoliate put a mask on. You can even cook something you never have before. These are things I’ve been doing and it has helped me. I suffer from severe depression
