I quit drinking about two and a half weeks ago

I quit drinking about two and a half weeks ago and every day since I have had a headache in my temples literally everyday all day. I used to drink about 8-12 hard seltzers 3-4 times a week or more if it was there. Otherwise I feel awesome, just these headaches! Has anyone else had this happen? I thought they would go away after a few days but not happening :frowning:

Yes. Drinking lots of water all day helped me with the headaches.

I still get tension headaches. Exercise and stretching and less caffeine will help

Completely normal response to quitting. The blood vessels in your head are used to thin blood running through them because alcohol thins blood. Now your vessels are pushing thicker blood through smaller veins. Give it time, stay hydrated, ibuprofen helped me… I still get headaches from time to time but now it is stress related instead of detox or hangover related.

Yup. I kept really really dark chocolate with me and let a piece melt slowly in my mouth and I am not drawn to sweets generally. Doing that as I lay down at night helped me fall into blissful sleep as well. I wish it still worked but I guess I don’t need it anymore. I hope that helps. You are awesome!

I’m a chocoholic now.. best shape of my life.. I eat well, feel great, and never worry about doing, saying, acting, or pretending my life was fine while drinking. It’s tough.. but man, I love stuff now.. my wife, kids, dog, house, lol.

Please let me know.. not continuously like in 2019. But I still get those annoying headaches in my temples. Sometimes it literally makes me stop what I’m doing. I started drinking pedia light (not sure how to spell that ) but I put that packet in my bottle water every day now. Seems to help when I have those kind of headaches. Crazy someone else has them. I honestly thought this would go away. But like I said not as frequent but still annoying!

Thanks for all the great replies everyone!

There can be many reasons for headaches. I would head over to the local clinic and get your blood checked. They can tell you a lot more from that. I don't remember having many headaches in the very beginning. But once I got past 7 days I was as sober as I was ever going to be.

Many of us don't drink enough water. So since you haven't been drinking maybe you've been forgetting to drink water. As someone said earlier you might try drinking more water everyday and see what that does.

The chemical withdrawal took 2-3 weeks. water makes sense as does a little sugar. there is a ton of sugar in alcohol so removing it all quickly is a bit of an adjustment. then exercise and sleep were helpful for me.

excellent. I also started to up my physical activity which helped me sleep better, which helped me feel better, which led to more physical activity and more sleep…
