I really need some advice. I fell off the wagon

I really need some advice. I fell off the wagon... again... over new years. I had made a promise to my wife that it wouldn't happen, yet it did. Now she is hurt and can't trust my word. How do I make this better? How can I bring her comfort?

The old adage is very true- Actions speak louder than words. Would you consider therapy together?

I agree and I will do anything to regain her trust

Thank you Bridget and AJ.

ACTIONS speak louder than words. Best of luck on your journey

Willpower doesn’t cure disease. If you drink like I used to, you can’t just decide to stop. You need to replace drinking with a program of recovery.

The only way to get the trust back from your loved ones is to live this equation..

Consistent behavior + Time = Trust..
Get back up.. do the right things.. and over time you will get their trust.. I have been there before too many times.. it will work out if you work it!

Thank you all... honestly! I felt so alone but all of you have shown me the great support system we have in this community. Your advice and time is greatly appreciated more than I can explain

I’m sorry you’re going through this. This is very similar to my situation. I’ve promised to stop and I do for awhile… but I always go back to it. I made it through the holidays, but messed-up yesterday.
I feel like I am sabotaging myself on purpose.

That's a feeling I think we can all relate to . Everytime I slip up that's the first thing I feel is the shame, guilt and self sabotaging feeling. It's like being torn in two at times but we can take the right steps to stop the cycle brother
