I really need to be asleep but my mind won’t stop
Focus on something relaxing and push the other thoughts out.
I get that a lot.
(A LOT a lot)
I like to listen to 8 Hr Sleep Meditations on YouTube because it's great for distracting the thoughts in my head as if someone else is speaking to me - better and different than a "Bedtime Story".
Check out Jessica Heslop's Channel.
There's some Woo stuff on there that I personally think is a bit
, but there are some really good tracks too; and she has most of them available as an "I am..." or a "You Are..." version, which can actually be of different preference, depending on my mood.
There's one about 'Entering The Vortex' that's pretty good if you need a recommendation.
Sweet Dreams!
Congrats on the Anniversary
My biggest problem, especially in early recovery, too. Tried all the meditation and sleep hygiene tactics. Honestly I ended up finding the most boring documentary-type shows I could find, putting it on low volume and low brightness, and started sleeping like a baby lol. Just enough to distract my mind, but not interest it. Disclaimer: this could be the worst advice on the planet
I absolutely agree with mind numbing boredom when it comes to trying to sleep… documentaries
Hey Tiffany, have you ever tried box breathing?
I get it
No… What is that ?
I end up just watching it …
Is controlled breathing for anxiety and stress
Well I appreciate the advice
You breathe in slowly through your mouth like you’re breathing it through a straw for 4 seconds. While listening to your heartbeat.
Then your breath for four seconds while listening to your heartbeat.
Then slowly blowout for four seconds while listening to your heartbeat.
Then don’t breathe for four seconds while listening to your heartbeat.
Then repeat it I do this every day throughout my day when I’m feeling stressed. I also do it every night before bed while I’m laying on my pillow. Hopefully this helps you. It definitely helps me.
