I relapsed. Day 1, August 5th. Sober since 7 p.m. Scared of the cravings and the really bad depression that lasts about two weeks.

We can do it

Jennifer, welcome back. Remember EASY DOES IT. For me depression is when I’m living in the past (resentments) and anxiety is living in the future (fear). Both of these states we put ourselves through cause harm. (Ourselves and others)
With that said, the AA program suggests that we look at our resentments, fears and harms on a daily reprieve. I want to point this out to help you see what exactly you depressed about or anxious about. That way when you can start to notice your headed down that slope you can implement some of your recovery tools to help cope with these states of being. I’m 626 days clean and sober today. I still have days where my depression and anxiety kick in. I’m able to get hell from my support group and use my tools to not allow it to over take my mind for more then a few days.
Key points: change our thinking, we change our lives. Notice our thoughts with compassion no matter what the thought is. Breath in then respond to those thoughts with compassion. Tell ourselves, if the thoughts are bad, that they aren’t true. Acknowledging our thoughts but letting them bad ones go and embracing the good ones is a good start to a healthy lifestyle. Have a wonderful day filled love and peace within my sober friend.

You got this!

I’m also starting my day 1. I’ve me sober since 6am

Look at the good that comes from letting go of your addiction. Stay busy and positive. You have one day..that's always a start. Hang in there

Meetings

Best of luck on your journey. One day at a time

As bad as a relapse feels just remember, you got sober once. You can do it again. Don't let yourself isolate

I have never gone to a meeting that I didn't feel better after. Before the pandemic, I was going to 5-6 meetings a week. We all started with one day. I surround myself with friends I've made in AA. It's a lifeboat ! Hang on - you can do it. :latin_cross::balloon::heart:
